The women of MadagaScar Our suppliers mostly employ women - we know that education and emancipation of women is the way to lift third world countries into the future. The women of Madagascar are strong, beautiful and proud - and on top of that, they are highly skilled. All our raffia houses, bags and baskets are handmade and embroidered by hand. It is said that norwegian missionaries taught the women of Madagascar to embroider and crochet. We do what we can to keep this industry alive and hope the skills will be passed on to future generations. 2
